Leading Students into the Wilderness
Now that I have set up my blog I will facilitate students setting up their own blogs. We are all going to use Google Blogger and students will need to enter a blog each week for six weeks. The blog will need to include specific material. I typed a handout so students could have easy access to the information and I gave each one a MACC folder to keep project information.
I went into the classroom early to make sure the computers were up and working. I practiced showing the steps to get to Google Blog and was feeling pretty confident when the students came into class.
As soon as the students started trying to set up their blogs, however, some had questions that I could not readily answer. It was interesting to feel my response: My adrenaline immediately surged and I felt nauseated and just wanted to run. As a teacher, that was a good reminder of how students often feel when they are questioned over new material.
